First Paper Cut Illustration
I have finally put the time in and created my website. And only a year later!
Exactly one year ago, I started working with paper. I started with an illustration that I drew up in Adobe Flash--for those who know me... they know I do everything in it. Next, I broke the illustration down into the different component parts... space ship, heads, hands, planets, stars, etc. Then I broke them down to the colors I would use... white, blue, deep blue, reds, etc. I created outlines around each of the objects to make a pattern of what needed to be cut out. I used my printer and printed out the patterns and then meticulously cut out each of the objects by hand and then assembled them to create the illustration.
You can see the images on the right. The first one being the Flash Illustration and the second one is my first ever Paper Cut Illustration. You can see there are differences between the two. I had to make some executives decisions to the papercut illustrations because some of the details were just too intricate to cut out for an inexperienced chopper.
In the end, I think it came out pretty good for my first piece. Please browse the rest of my site. It is a work in progress. I still need to go through and title, label, and tag most of the imagery, but know that everything on this site was created in the past year. I have enjoyed re-emerging as an 'Artist' after sitting behind a desk and computer. Now I sit behind a desk and computer with the addition of a cutter, Xacto knife, foam tape, lots of cut out paper, glue, a meticulous sense of patience and a whole lot of want to create cool and fun stuff to feed the creative hunger within.
